We meet the third Wednesday of every "even" month at the Rancocas Community Center at 7:00 p.m. The meeting dates for 2008 are: February 20, April 16, June 18, August 20, October 15 and December 17. While these meetings are open to the public, we ask that you consider joining our membership.
Remember, this area was settled in 1677 by the Quakers who came over from England on the Kent. Lots of history to discover! Today will be the past for our children and grandchildren... How did we get here? Illuminating the past sheds light on the present and a hint of the future.
One of our goals is to create a museum where all this info and material may be shared with everyone - members, our community and visitors.
We're always in search of info, materials and photos of the area. Do you have old photos or negatives showing the Village or residents from years ago? Old deeds, maps, papers, etc.? Would you be willing to share them? We can do a high-quality scan of your material and return the originals to you. Or, do you wish to give or sell any of your photos, deeds, etc.? Let us know! We are a nonprofit, 501 (c) (3) organization.
Are you willing to help do research? We have a few research projects planned. If you're looking for something to do, why not help us on a project - with whatever time you have to spare. Some of our current projects are: recording oral histories; collecting images from the past and present of life in the Village; and preserving Asher Woolman's house and outbuildings.
Do you have any suggestions for projects? Again, let us know!
Thanks!
